2024 had some strange occurrences. In April there was a total solar eclipse viewable over a large swath of the US. Where I live it was only partial and since I was recovering from hip replacement surgery, I watched it there and it was still strange. Throughout the year the Northern Lights ventured very far south and were viewable in my area (and a lot farther south which is rare). 2024 saw a double emergence of cicadas, both 13-year and 17-year broods emerged which had not happened since Thomas Jefferson was president in 1803. And this year had the earliest summer solstice since George Washington was president in 1796. On July 15th a fast-moving derecho spawned 32 tornadoes in the Chicago area – the most ever in a single day. To top off the year we had 4 supermoons in a row from August to November.
