1C and 2C set. 2C cross LH. 1C and 2C set and dance RH across halfway, women retaining right hands. |
9-16 |
2C and 1C dance ladies chain, 2M and 1M casting to begin. 1M end facing out. |
17-20 |
1M, followed by 1W, cast off 1 place as 3C step up, and dance across the set in 3rd place to end on own sides. |
21-24 |
3C and 1C turn RH 1½ on the sides to change places. |
25-32 |
Parallel reels of 3 on the sides, 1C giving LS to 2C to begin. |
Repeat. |

I find it hardest to name dances (writing them is easy), so I asked my group for ideas for this one and was given several ideas: Charles’ Jig, Playing While Gilbert Sleeps, Playing While the Baby Sleeps, and The Cat’s Meow. The ultimate choice was Charles Plays with the Cat While Baby Gilbert Sleeps, which I decided was too long. |
