Unsquare Dance

in a square set
Dance is done twice in strathspey time followed by twice in reel time
Bars  
1-8 All advance nearer hands joined with partners and retire nearer hands joined with corners. All turn corners BH (RH in reel time) once round to face in.
9-16 All advance nearer hands joined with corners and retire nearer hands joined with partners. All turn partners BH (RH in reel time) once round. 1C and 3C end in promenade hold facing counter-clockwise. 2C and 4C end facing in original places.
17-20 1C and 3C promenade between 2C and 4C to opposite sides while 2C and 4C dance petronella turns and set.
21-24 1C and 3C change RH up and down the set while 2C and 4C dance petronella turns. All turn partner LH to put the women in the center RH joined and men on the outside facing counter-clockwise.
25-32 Women dance RH across halfway while men chase counter-clockwise 1/4 around the set. All turn men LH into the center to end RH joined and women facing counter-clockwise. Men dance RH across halfway while women chase counter-clockwise 1/4 around the set. Men dance out and curve into place. End 4, 1, 2, 3.
Repeat from new positions.

I have a favorite CD called Unsquare Dance and when the idea for this dance came to me, I decided to name it for that. It was originally a strathspey, but when we danced it the first time, we thought it might work better as a medley and it does.
