Bars  
1-4 1M and 2W set advancing and turn BH once round ending in original places.
5-8 1W and 2M repeat bars 1-4.
9-16 1C and 2C dance the knot.
17-20 2C, 1C, and 3C dance set and link for 3 couples on the sides:
2M dance forward and down and curve into 3M's place while
3W dance forward and up and curve into 1W’s place (passing 2M LS) while
1M and 3M each cast up 1 place while
1W and 2W each cast off 1 place.
21-24 All turn the person opposite once round LH.
25-32 All dance a bourrel for 3 couples.
Repeat.

Iain Boyd posted a query on strathspey.org about a set and link for 3 couples on the sides which got me thinking about how it might work. I have no idea whether this is the same figure as the one Iain asked about, but when I danced it in my head, it occurred to me that it was the perfect setup for the 3-couple bourrel, so I had to try it out in a dance.
