Bars
1-8	1W set advancing to 2M while 2M set turning over RS to face out. 2M followed by 1W cast behind 3M and dance up the center of the dance. On the last bar, 2M turn over RS to face 1W. WHILE Starting on bar 3, 1M set advancing to 2W while 2W set turning over RS to face out. 2W followed by 1M cast behind 3W and dance up the center of the dance. On the last bar, 2W turn over RS to face 1M. 1C & 2C have formed a line up and down the center of the set with 1W & 2W back-to-back in the middle.
9-16	1C & 2C dance a reel of 4 in the center of the dance. On the last bar, instead of returning to where they started the reel, 1W & 2W turn away from each other to face partners up and down the dance.
17-24	2C & 1C turn petronella to sides; 2C end in 1st place on own sides and 1C end in 2nd place on opposite sides. 2C, 1C, & 3C take hands and set on the sides. 1C dance a ½ figure of 8 down between 3C to end on own sides in 2nd place.
25-32	2C, 1C, & 3C dance mirror reels of 3 on the sides of the dance, beginning by 1C dancing in and up, 2C dancing out and down, and 3C dancing out and up.
Repeat.
Suggested music is Wind that Shakes the Barley from Muckle Carfuffle.
This dance reminds me of a caterpillar at the beginning and a butterfly at the end; thus the name.
