73 Is the Perfect Number
by Sue McKinnell 8x32 Strathspey for 3C
Bars
1-8 1C and 3C dance a double figure of 8, 1C crossing down and 3C cast up to begin.
9-16 1C turn BH once round then cast into half mirror reels on the sides (RS on the W's and LS on the M's). On the last 2 bars 1C and 2C continue the reel to change places. End 3, 1, 2.
17-24 1C cross RH and cast R around 1st corners, change LH through the middle of the set, and cast into corner positions (1M into 1M's place and 1W into 3W's place) as 3M steps down and 2W steps up.
25-32 All dance a bourrel for 3 couples.
Repeat.
Suggested music is Mr Robert H MacKay from Cairngorms by Keith Smith and Muriel Johnstone.
In The Big Bang Theory Sheldon says that 73 is the perfect number because it is the 21st prime and the 12th prime is 37 and 3 * 7 = 21. Plus 73 is a palindrome in binary: 1001001. I wrote this dance for my 73rd birthday.
