Suggested music is The Maine Medley from Celebrate Fifty Years of Dancing with the Boston Branch.
This dance was written for a class to illustrate the differences in phrasing when dancing the same figures in strathspey and reel time. It is an astonishingly difficult dance in parts, given the simple figures from which it is constructed. It may be danced as a three-couple set dance, or with five couples and regular double progression, or contra-style.
