by Sue McKinnell 4x32 Jig/Reel for 4C
(Set Dance)
Bars
1-8 1C cast down the outside of the dance and back to place.
9-16 All four couples take hands on the sides and advance and retire, then dance back to back with partners.
17-24 1C & 2C, 3C & 4C dance RH across and LH across.
25-32 1C lead down the center to 4th place as 2C, 3C, & 4C step up. All turn partners RH once round.
Repeat 4 times.
Suggested music is a lively jig or reel. I find the dances on The Macadians Play Burns Night in the Annapolis Valley has several tracks that work well.
This dance is one of four that were written for a teaching session at the Chicago Highland Games. Since the people who participate in this are usually totally unfamiliar with Scottish Country Dancing, I needed simple dances with easy figures and an easy progression.
