I adopted Ember as an adult stray from a shelter that brought cats to a cat show. As I walked by the cage where she was being held, she reached through the bars and kept pawing at me, so I had to have her taken out of the cage so I could hold her. Her name was given as Alice, but she was a black and red tortieshell and I thought she looked like embers in a fire. She had a very sweet mellow temperament.
