Bars  
1-8 1C and 3C set advancing, circle once round to the left then 1M leads 1W to 2nd place while 3M leads 3W to 4th place. Meanwhile 2C and 4C set turn partners once round LH then cast away from each other. At the end there will be lines up and down the set: in 2nd place: 2W, 1W, 1M, 2M and in 4th place: 4M, 3M, 3W, 4W.
9-16 2W and 1W, 1M and 2M, 4M and 3M, 3W and 4W set and link then the 4 people at each end of the set dance RH across once round (1W, 2W, 3M, 4M and 2M, 1M, 4W, and 3W). The lines are now: in 2nd place: 1W, 2W, 2M, 1M and in 4th place: 3M, 4M, 4W, 3W.
17-20 The 4 people at the ends of the lines dance a half double figure of 8, 2W, 4M, 2M, and 4W crossing to the ends to start while the others dance toward the center. At the end: in 2nd place: 3M, 4M, 4W, 3W and in 4th place: 1W, 2W, 2M, 1M.
21-24 3M and 3M, 2M and 1M turn RH once round in 2 bars while 1W and 2W, 4W and 3W turn LH once round in 2 bars. 4C and 2C turn partners BH halfway to end 4C in 2nd place and 2C in 4th place while 3M and 1W and 3W and 1M turn BH to end 3M and 1W in 1st place and 3W and 1M in 3rd place.
25-28 1C and 3C dance half ladies chain.
29-32 All chase CCW 1 place and turn partners LH to place. End in order 4, 1, 2, 3.

Years ago I wrote a dance named The Rose. Re-reading it one day, I thought of this dance.
